New Type Combination Reducer Developed by NGC for Plate Bending Machine Put into Use

In April 2010, the combination reducer for four roll plate bending machine developed by Nanjing High Speed & Accurate Gear Group Co., Ltd., a sub-company of Nanjing High Accurate Drive Equipment Manufacturing Group Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as NGC) was put into formal operation after installation and commissioning in Lanzhou Lanshi Heavy Industry New Technology Co., Ltd. This reducer has been operating in good condition for six months since then.

This combination reducer for plate bending machine is a type of three-point meshing combination reducer with max. output torque of 6000kN.m, and is capable of bending steel plates of 250mm thickness. Plate Bending Machine is a key equipment to bend and coil steel plates. Nowadays fast development of energy and chemical industries is setting higher and higher requirements for processing equipment, especially key machines such as pressure vessels. The same is true for plate bending machines. Products with small size, light weight and capability of processing plates of ultra thickness and ultra width have become the focus of the market. This combination reducer was developed by NGC to response to market demand, consisting of 3 units of primary reducers and one secondary reducer. The 3 primary reducers are driven by hydraulic motors, fixed with a layout as a triangle on the housing of the secondary reducer and connected to the 3 input shafts of the secondary reducer. It is the first time that such configuration and torque transmitting method has been used for a low-speed heavy-duty reducer in China.

As the key equipment in the processing of medium to thick steel plate bending, this combination reducer has adopted flexible input to avoid unbalanced load distribution which may be caused by three-point meshing, prolonging the lifetime of the reducer; the compact configuration and light weight makes workshop layout and equipment installation easier; the FEA structure optimization used for housing design ensures the reducer’s rigidity and steadiness during torque transmission.

The successful development and manufacturing of this combination reducer for plate bending machine meets market demand and trend, making a considerable contribution to technical improvement of domestic plate bending equipment.
